Clubs must play their part to promote the league – GFA General Secretary

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo has accused the clubs of limited efforts to promote the league.

In an interview, the outspoken GFA general secretary explains that the Association is doing its best but the clubs themselves are reluctant. The accusation of The association not promoting the league is false.

” Promotions of the league is not only one group, but clubs must also promote their matches since they benefit from the greater share of gate proceeds and the FA takes a smaller share “.

“Sometimes the FA seems to promote the games but the clubs do not. Clubs were told to do pre-match match conferences on Thursday and Friday but they started but stopped later should the FA apply the Law, Journalists will jump to conclusions that the FA is against them”.

The FA General Secretary further explained that they allocated 1 million dollars for the promotion of the league.

” Attendance is not only in the Betpawa Premier League, we had it in the past when sponsorship money is used to do something but since all monies have been given to the clubs, it could not be possible “.

“In the Betpawa sponsorship, they decided to keep 1 million dollars to promote the league and other things . Part of the money is used to pay locker room bonus “. – he added

Attendance at the various stadiums has become a major problem and it’s the responsibility of both the FA and the Clubs to promote the league.
